Marriage Licenses
- Effective July 1, 2018, both parties must be over 18 years of age. Individuals who are
at least 17 years of age must have written parental consent from both parents.
Please note: The older party to the marriage must not be more than 2 years older than the
younger party to the marriage.
The form for the written consent may be obtained from the Clerk & Comptroller's Office
or online.
The form containing the notarized signatures of both parents must be presented at
the time the application for the marriage license is made.

- Present a valid photo identification (state issued Driver License, Passport, State ID, Military ID, etc.).
- Knowledge of your Social Security Number or identifying immigration number for application purposes is recommended.
- If either party has been divorced or widowed they must know the month, day and year the last marriage ended.
- ALL APPLICANTS MUST READ THE FAMILY LAW HANDBOOK
that is provided at the time of application.
- Complete and print the Marriage License Information sheet. This form can be completed online using Adobe Acrobat.

- Please print the Premarital Course and Handbook Statement Form.
This form will need to be completed before submitting an application to marry.
- If the applicants have children together that were born in the state of Florida, a state mandated form must be
completed regarding birth information on the children. There is an additional $3.50 charge for administering the oath,
signing and attesting to this document.
Affirmation of Common Children Form
- Pursuant to F.S. 741.07, the following persons or officials have the authority to solemnize marriages within the State of Florida:
• Regularly ordained ministers of the gospel or elders in communion with
some church or other ordained clergy
• All judicial officers, including retired judicial officers
• Notaries Public of this state
While the Clerk & Comptroller’s Office is not required by law to officiate such services, it provides a list of persons who have expressed their availability to perform these ceremonies. If you are interested in joining this list, please fill out the Marriage Ceremony Officiant Information Sheet and return it to our office.
A marriage license is effective for 60 days from the purchase date and can be
used in any county within the State of Florida.
The cost of a license is $86.00 payable by check, credit card, or cash. There is a three (3) day waiting period for Florida residents. The waiting period is waived if both applicants are non-Florida residents or a Certificate of Completion is furnished from a registered premarital course provider.

Premarital Course
Pursuant to section
741.0305(5), Florida Statutes, a premarital course provider
must be registered for a couple to receive a reduced marriage fee. If a premarital
course provider has not registered with the Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller's
Office, the couple will not receive a reduced marriage license fee upon submitting
the premarital course certificate.

To register, course providers must complete a
Registration Affidavit for Premarital Course Provider. Upon completion, mail or
hand-deliver the notarized affidavit to one of the following Pasco County Clerk &
Comptroller Office locations:
Registered premarital course providers must offer couples a Certificate of Completion or a letter stating the couple's full names, date of completion, and how the course was conducted. This certificate or letter must be presented at the time the couple applies for a marriage license.
Upon furnishing such certificate, the couple shall have their marriage license fee reduced by $25.00 and three (3) day waiting period waived. The cost of the license would be $61.00, payable by cash, check, or credit card.

Premarital preparation courses may include the following lists of qualified instructors
as provided by Florida Statutes 741.0305 (3)(a)(1-6):
- A psychologist licensed under F.S. Chapter 490
- A clinical social worker licensed under F.S. Chapter 491
- A marriage and family therapist license under F.S. Chapter 491
- A mental health counselor license under F.S. Chapter 491
- An official representative of a religious institution which is recognized under
F.S.496.404(19), if the representative has relevant training
- Any other provider designated by a judicial circuit, including but not limited
to school counselors who are certified to offer such courses.

The Status of the Issuance of Same Sex-Marriage Licenses in Pasco CountyDue to the clarification issued by U.S. District Judge Robert L Hinkle on January 1, 2015, same-sex marriage licenses may be obtained at the Pasco County Clerk & Comptroller's Office, Official Records, in the Government Center in Dade City or New Port Richey beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
